Facts About Babies That You Might Not Know
Posted by: storkbabygiftbaskets in Personalized BabyChildhood development is fascinating. Learning about the way a baby goes from his infancy to manhood will astound you. There is more to being a baby than is immediately discernable. There is more to being a baby than simply being cute. They each have individual needs and wants that parents need to take care of to make sure that development occurs the way it should. Being a baby is far from simple. Being a parent is easier if you understand what is going on as your child grows from baby to small kid to teenager and onward.
A baby’s skull is not fused together when it is born. This is one of the main reasons that adults need to be careful when they are holding newborn babies. This is why that space on the back of a newborn’s head is called the soft spot and you need to handle it with care or you could do some serious damage to your baby. About three months after your baby is born its skull plates will have started to fuse together and you won’t have to be quite so careful with the soft spot at the back of his or her head. It can take as long as a year and a half for the frontal plates of your baby’s skull to harden, so don’t assume that the worst is over when the soft spot calcifies together.
Even though it can take a few months for a baby to form specific words, their range of vocals is quite impressive. This is because the larynx (or voice box) is still developing after babies are born. Adult voice boxes have already begun to stiffen up, which is why babies are better at creating new sounds. If you pay attention you will find that babies quickly learn to use certain sounds for certain things. It is because of this that a mother is able to learn what a child wants just by listening to him cry for a few seconds. Typically, most of a baby’s beginning vocabulary will consist of easy vowels and consonants that he can make using only the front of his mouth. Babies will usually say “dada” before “mama” because “dada” uses the front of the mouth and is easier for the baby to learn to say-and it’s first utterance is almost always an accident!
While crying is the baby’s main way of signaling that he or she needs or wants something, there won’t be any tears with that wail until a few weeks after he has been born. When a person gets stressed he or she secretes a hormone that is only found in tears. This hormone secretion is the main reason that stressed out people cry: the body ridding itself of that hormone helps calm everything down. This hormone does not get created until after a baby has been born. Some babies do not start producing this hormone for a few weeks. Your baby might take a couple of months to begin crying real tears.
