Disney Winnie The Pooh Baby Books Gift Basket

The beginning of Disney characters started in the early 1920′s and the huge entertainment empire we know today all began with it’s founder Walter Elias Disney.  He began his life long dream of entertaining children with his first film about a little girl named Alice . Along with his brother Roy, he began the Walt Disney Company officially on October 16, 1923.

Following his first cartoon with “Alice in Wonderland“,  “Mickey Mouse” whom is arguably the most famous of the Disney cartoon characters, came to life. Making his debut in “Steamboat Willie” at the Colony Theatre in New York City on November 18, 1928, Mickey went on to star in over 120 different cartoons. He also starred in “The Mickey Mouse Club” television show of the 1950s. 

Snow White became the very first “Disney Princess“, actually thought up by Walt when he was only 15 years old while working as a newsboy in Kansas City. He saw a major presentation of a silent film version of the tale starring Marguerite Clark. The screening was held at the city’s Convention Hall in February, 1917, and the film was projected onto a four-sided screen using four separate projectors.  Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the animated film, made it’s debut in 1937 as the first animated feature film ever and for a while after its release the film was the highest-grossing motion picture of all time, until it was finally surpassed by “Gone With the Wind” a couple of years later.

Cinderella and other Disney Princesses  such as Princess Aurora from “Sleeping Beauty” soon followed starting around 1950 and have been favorites among little girls around the world ever since.  The little always hungry for more honey “Winnie The Pooh” and his good friend Christopher Robbin’s was created in the mid 1960′s where he first appeared in his first animated film, ”Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree”.

Today’s children not only can enjoy their favorite and loveable characters in cartoons and animated films on T.V. and at the theater but also many are able to enjoy the wonder’s of Disneyland and Disneyworld Adventure Parks.  Clothing, toys, games and now even baby gift baskets are available to delight, teach and entertain even the youngest of children as they have for many folks both young and young at heart!
